Is dirty politics behind the attack on an MP’s office?

On June 24, 2022, MP Rahul Gandhi's Wayanad Office was vandalized by SFI Activists (the CPM Student’s Union) alleging that he did not intervene on the issue of creating buffer zones around forests in the hilly areas. Wayanad is one such area to be affected by the Supreme Court judgment on buffer zones – "The Supreme Court directed that every protected forest, national park, and wildlife sanctuary across the country should have a mandatory eco-sensitive zone (ESZ) of a minimum of one kilometre starting from their demarcated boundaries."

Altogether, 29 Eco-Sensitive Zones (ESZ) spread across 10 states in the country have been notified as having environmental resources of incomparable values which require special attention for their conservation, as per Lok Sabha records.

As Wayanad is not the only area affected by the SC Judgement, why is only the MP from that area targeted?

Why is the protest organized by the student’s wing—SFI—instead of the party itself?

This is the time when protest is mounting against the government and its leader for various allegations of gold and foreign currency smuggling with the alleged involvement of the CM’s office and his relatives/ministers/staff. Is it the reason for this protest to divert attention?

Is it to impress BJP bosses who recently stage-managed 5 days of questioning of Sri Rahul Gandhi by the Enforcement Directorate on his alleged role in the National Herald case?

Rahul Gandhi has always been the greatest enemy of the BJP government and the Sangh Parivar, and their only agenda is a Congress-free India. That is why they are trying to make the Congress-free India as easy as possible by using everything from ED to cash-strapped horse trading.

What is the SFI attempting to prove to anyone by portraying Rahul Gandhi in an adversarial position, attacking his office, and beating the staff?

Whether it is the main party or the sub units, all the members of the party should have political awareness, prudence, and democratic decency.

Leave alone Rahul Gandhi's office, no MP or MLA's office should be vandalized like this. This is a ghastly attack, lawlessness, mafia act, and goondaism, and it is unacceptable in a democracy and it should be condemned.

Sri Rahul Gandhi has already sent a letter dated June 23rd regarding the ESZ issue addressed to the prime minister and has published it on his social media accounts. The Chief Minister of Kerala and the Prime Minister of India have to take a decision on a review request at SC.

Another aspect is police inaction during this act by the SFI goons. Keralites have seen police super arrangement and protection for the CM when he travelled across the state during the agitation by opposition parties. This was missing during the goons' attack on an MP’s office, why? Is this because CM is in charge of the police department?

We can conclude that it is a planned attempt. If so, what could be the motive? The answer to the preceding question can be found by:

1.      Internal Party Rivalry between North and South Groups for Supremacy in the CPM Party. The party is only visible in Kerala, and leaders from there want to control the party.

2.      Like the BJP, the Left is also looking for a Congress Free India, and Sri Rahul Gandhi is the huddle for it as he is widely accepted all over India as a national leader.

3.      It is a smokescreen to divert attention from the main failures and allegations against the State Government.

In the end, Kerala police confirmed that there were around 100 Students' Federation of India (SFI) activists, and they barged into the MP’s office. They further confirmed that eight of the violent protesters have been taken into custody.

CPI (M) General Secretary Sri Sitaram Yechury condemned the attack on Rahul Gandhi's Wayanad office and assured that the party would take strict action against those responsible. Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan also issued a statement condemning the violence and promised strict action against the culprits.

Is this adequate? No, such hooligans should be excluded from their organization, their membership should be revoked, and they should never again be associated with their party in order to prevent future instances of such violent acts from undermining a political party
